Admiral Sir James Perowne KCVO KBE

Lutterworth, Leicestershire.

It has been a year since I left Windsor and you kindly asked me to be your Patron after the untimely loss of Admiral Lord Boyce. He was such a special Naval Officer who did so much to support the Association and will be very much missed. I am sure many of you went to his memorial service last July in Westminster Abbey; it was a beautiful service and summed up Mike so well. I think at times in the service, we all had a tear in the eye.

I have been very much honoured to become your Patron even with such huge boots to fill. I was very pleased to be able to present a Patron’s Commendation in person at Barrow to Barrie Downer who has done so much for both his branch and the national leadership over many years and continues to do so despite being very ill.

The Remembrance Parade gets bigger and more impressive every year and for those who have not attended for some time, I do commend it to you. Middle Temple do us proud and do all they can to make us welcome.

It just needs me to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year and I look forward to seeing as many of you as I can in Belfast at the end of March for the AGM and reunion.

With best wishes

James Perowne
