The Office for Veterans’ Affairs has seen a surge in applications for veteran ID cards since the launch of phase two for the wider veterans community a month ago. With the introduction of a new digital application service at the end of January, the department reported receiving a total of 72,606 applications by 22 February 2024, comprising 69,698 digital requests and 2,908 paper submissions. Additionally, as of 8 February 2024, 28,882 cards had been dispatched to applicants via postal delivery.

In another development, Defence Minister Dr. Andrew Murrison addressed a written parliamentary inquiry regarding the distribution of veteran ID cards across different regions. The Minister for Defence People and Families outlined that an enhancement to the case management system will facilitate the Ministry of Defence (MOD) in furnishing a regional breakdown starting from March 2024, on a monthly basis.
