Dorset Branch to Remember HMS Sidon

In a solemn tribute to the 13 brave submariners who lost their lives aboard HMS Sidon, the Dorset Branch of the Submariners Association will hold a special remembrance ceremony at 11:00 AM on June 16, 2024.

Our host site this year is the Spilsbury & Jones Brewing Company at Orleton Court Farm Campsite, a beautiful venue set amongst orchards and hop fields, bordering the river Teme and with its own fishing lake.

85 Years since the loss of HMS Thetis

Shortly before 10 A.M. on June 1st 1939, His Majesty’s Submarine Thetis left Birkenhead to make a diving trial. This was to be Thetis’s first venture as a submarine proper.
